In biopharmaceutical production, transfer panels serve as critical routing interfaces, directing the flow of liquids between cleanroom systems. Ensuring that tubing is connected correctly — according to the procedure in progress — is essential. A single misconnection can lead to cross-contamination, product loss, or regulatory non-compliance, with high financial and operational consequences.
Operators typically verify tubing setups by manually comparing live panel configurations against SOPs — a process that is:
Visually demanding and time-consuming
Prone to human error and oversight
Difficult to standardize or audit retrospectively
The Graypaw Solution: Introducing GrayVisions Mobile
To address this pain point, Graypaw developed GrayVisions Mobile — a lightweight, native module derived from the GrayVisions core platform, optimized for mobile deployment.
In collaboration with Proconex, the component was fully integrated into ProofCheck, a tablet-based operational tool used for SOP validation across regulated manufacturing environments.
Using GrayVisions Mobile:
Operators launch ProofCheck on a tablet
They point the device's built-in camera at the transfer panel
The system automatically analyzes the tubing layout
A visual overlay confirms whether the setup matches the SOP for the current procedure
This eliminates the need for checklists or subjective visual comparison, delivering real-time validation with minimal operator effort.
GrayVisions Mobile is designed to integrate cleanly into mobile platforms, supporting embedded inference, on-device execution, and a user-facing visual layer — without requiring edge boxes or fixed infrastructure.
Demonstrating Wearable Vision with RealWear
To further illustrate the adaptability of its platform, Graypaw independently developed a wearable proof-of-concept using RealWear smart glasses.
By deploying the same GrayVisions Mobile logic to a head-mounted device, Graypaw demonstrated how operators could perform hands-free setup verification — simply by looking at the panel and receiving feedback directly in their field of view.
While not part of the core ProofCheck deployment, this demonstration highlights the potential of cognitive vision in next-generation, heads-up operational workflows.
